We want you to know how important your donations are to us. Your donations have made it possible for us to accomplish a lot this past year.

We celebrated our official opening in May of 2005.

The second Annual Encampment was held in August and was a great success. Another is planned for August 19 & 20, 2006.

Finally, the Civil War Reenactment in August will be larger than last year, 17 units have been contacted.  We will need volunteers to assist with the reenactment so that the experience will be both entertaining and educational for our visitors.

In November we commemorated the end of WWII with a Special Exhibit of donated and loaned memorabilia honoring the many Southcoast service men and women who served in that war. On Veterans’ Day hundreds of guests visited the Military Museum and WBSM broadcast live from there.

We have cataloged donations and loans from over 315 people totaling several hundred articles. More than 6000 visitors from many states and countries have signed our log.

In February, in conjunction with a Special Exhibit honoring Black History Month we co-hosted a meeting with the New Bedford Historical Society. Our speaker gave a fascinating description of the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II.

These are just a few of our accomplishments. Our thanks go to the many volunteers who give of their time to the Museum, to those who have loaned or donated military artifacts and pictures, and to YOU who as a contributing member help to make it all possible!

  THANK YOU !!!
